Quilter Kathleen Anderson sitting at her sewing table

Kathleen Anderson

Hi, I’m Kathleen and I’m a quilter, quilting teacher and quilt pattern designer from the UK.

My quilting classes have been transforming beginners into quilters since 2016. My modern quilt patterns keep new quilters making and learning.

Helping beginners to become quilters since 2016

Cowden Quilt School is my one-woman, small craft business
based in the East Midlands of England.

This is where I share my love for the traditional crafts of patchwork and quilting.

I’ve made it my mission to help people feel the same joy, comfort and creativity that I found in quilt-making.

No matter what style of quilt you dream of creating, with my help you’ll learn all the skills and techniques you need to get started. And I’ll keep holding your hand with support and encouragement as you make many more quilts for your home and people you love.

At Cowden Quilt School, every class, quilt, pattern and cup of tea is created and delivered by me, Kathleen Anderson. I used to have a career in health service management and thought I always would have: no-one is more surprised than me to be here now!

My business was born after my babies and is very much a family affair. Most of my quilting classes and sewcial quilting days are hosted in our family home in the East Leicestershire countryside. We live in an old, listed farmhouse in an historic rural village.

My sewing room is a light, bright space with windows on three sides overlooking the ridge and furrow fields and the medieval village church. I love to offer every beginner and new quilter a home-from-home environment to relax, learn and make new friends. All fuelled by tea (coffee if you’d prefer) and homemade snacks, often baked with the help of my daughters.

Thanks so much for unlocking this new interest in me - I’m so grateful and hopeful that I’ll always have a quilt on the go for many years to come!
