At Cowden Quilt School, anyone can learn patchwork and quilting, including absolute beginners

I offer two workshops for beginners. Both will teach you a modern approach to a traditional craft.

Patchwork taster workshop

If you'd like to get a feel for what patchwork is all about then this workshop for you. It's a short and sweet way to try your hand at a traditional craft by making a modern cushion cover. For this workshop you need to bring along a sewing machine. I have a small number of machines available to hire if you don't have your own.

What's included:

  • plenty of tea, coffee and homemade bakes
  • friendly and patient tuition as part of a small group of other beginners
  • access to our Facebook group of new quilters for support, ideas and special offers
I had a lovely day with Kathleen!

Beginners patchwork and quilting

A two-day course will teach you everything you need to know to make your first project and keep going. Everything is taught by hand so there's no need to bring or buy a sewing machine to get started. All you need is your own selection of fabrics which I'll help you to choose.

What's included:

  • plenty of tea, coffee and homemade bakes
  • friendly and patient tuition as part of a small group of other beginners
  • fabric guidance notes in advance and detailed course notes and photos to keep
  • access to our Facebook group of new quilters for support, ideas and special offers
Highly recommend the course.
